Cervantes DescriptionCervantes Family Vineyards is an estate nestled away in the eastern reaches of napa. The vineyard designation is ideal, just over the peak of Howell Mtn and alongside Pritchard Hill. The estate vineyard is situated directly adjacent to St Supery’s “Dollarhide” Vineyard.Cervantes wines are produced by the great Andy Erickson (Favia, Dalla Valle, Mayacamas, Arietta, and formerly of Screaming Eagle and Staglin). The breathtaking winery was designed by Howard Backen whom has also designed estates as Harlan, Kenzo, and Futo. Needless to say NO expense was spared in putting this winery together.While the first official vintage of Cervantes Cabernet was released in 2016, however wines are really starting to hit their stride in the 2019 Vintage. Their cabernet has been scored a whopping 97+ by Parker, and 97 by Jeb Dunnuck.Winemaker Notes: A dark, black fruit core resides at the heart of the wine, surrounded by ethereal notes of herbs, spices, and flowers. Ripe blackberries, kirsch, and red cherries drive the flavor profile. On the nose, exotic notes of cardamom, cumin, and anise are supported by aromas of dried flowers and sage. This is a deeply layered wine, with finely toned muscle and impressive balance. Its freshness today bodes well for a long future in the cellar.
